Does Claude already have Gmail access?

Claude's built-in Gmail connector can search, read, draft, send, reply to, and forward Gmail messages, and manage labels. It sees attachment details but not their contents. Fluxmail downloads attachments so Claude can read them, and it works with Outlook and IMAP mailboxes as well as Gmail.

Can Claude send email through Fluxmail?

Yes. Send emails is checked when you approve the connection. Uncheck it to stop Claude from sending. For draft-only access, also uncheck Organize emails and Move to/from Trash. You can revoke the connection at any time from Connections in the Cloud dashboard.

Does the connector work on claude.ai too?

Yes. Custom connectors belong to your Claude account, so a connector you add in Claude Desktop is also available on claude.ai.

Connect Claude Desktop to your email

1. Create a Fluxmail Cloud account and connect a mailbox

2. Add Fluxmail to Claude Desktop
On a Team or Enterprise plan, an owner adds the connector under Organization settings > Connectors first, and members connect it from Customize > Connectors. Otherwise, in Claude Desktop or on claude.ai, open Customize > Connectors, select Add, then Add custom connector. Fill in these settings and select Add:

3. Sign in and approve access
Claude Desktop opens Fluxmail in your browser. Choose your Fluxmail workspace and the mailboxes Claude Desktop can use. Every permission starts checked, including Send emails. Uncheck any you don't want, then approve.

To use the connector in a conversation, select + in the message box, open Connectors, and turn on Fluxmail.

Free Claude plans allow one custom connector.

Run Fluxmail yourself instead

Fluxmail Self-Hosted runs on your own computer or server. Follow the quickstart to install it and connect a mailbox first.

Ask for an inbox summary

This prompt only reads mail. Try it with a mailbox you approved:

Using Fluxmail, list my ten newest inbox messages with the sender and subject. Tell me which ones need a reply and why. Do not draft, send, or change anything.

Check the result

Compare the list with your inbox. Each message should be a real one from a mailbox you approved, and nothing in the mailbox should change. If you approved more than one mailbox, Claude may ask which one to list.

To change permissions or mailboxes later, connect again and approve the new access, then revoke the old connection under Connections in the Cloud dashboard.

If the connection does not work

If Fluxmail is missing under + > Connectors or shows as disconnected, connect it again from Customize > Connectors.
If Fluxmail connects but no mailbox appears, ask for the result of the get_connection_status tool. It lists the connection's mailboxes and permissions, and whether your plan is active.
Each approval lasts up to 90 days. After that, or if sign-in fails, connect again.
