Email for ChatGPT
Fluxmail Cloud connects ChatGPT to your Gmail, Outlook, and IMAP mailboxes as a custom MCP server. ChatGPT can search, read, draft, and send email, limited to the mailboxes and permissions you approve.
What you can do
Find an attachment
Ask for the invoice or contract someone sent you. ChatGPT finds the message and downloads the file so it can read it.
Search more than one mailbox
Approve a work Outlook account and a personal Gmail account in the same connection, then search both without saying which one has the message.
Draft replies in your mailbox
ChatGPT saves replies as drafts in your mailbox, where you can edit and send them yourself.
Connect ChatGPT to your email
1. Create a Fluxmail Cloud account and connect a mailbox
Sign up and choose a plan. Your first subscription starts with a 7-day free trial. Then open Mailboxes in the dashboard and connect Gmail or Outlook, or enter your IMAP settings. The Cloud quickstart and mailbox guide cover each step.
Start your free trial2. Add Fluxmail to ChatGPT
Your ChatGPT account or workspace must allow custom MCP servers; in a Business or Enterprise workspace, an administrator may need to allow them first. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, select the plus button, then Add custom MCP server. Fill in these settings (the URL goes under Connection), accept the warning, select Create as a plugin, then install the plugin:
Name: Fluxmail Description: Gmail, Outlook, and IMAP email URL: https://cloud.fluxmail.ai/mcp Authentication: OAuth3. Sign in and approve access
ChatGPT opens Fluxmail in your browser. Choose your Fluxmail workspace and the mailboxes ChatGPT can use. Every permission starts checked, including Send emails. Uncheck any you don't want, then approve.
To use Fluxmail on chatgpt.com, start a new conversation, type @, and select Fluxmail.
To use the ChatGPT desktop app instead of chatgpt.com, open Settings > MCP servers and select Add server. Enter the same URL, choose Streamable HTTP, save, and select Restart. Then select Authenticate next to the server.
See Permissions for what each permission allows, and the ChatGPT MCP docs for client settings.
Summarize a thread you already know
This prompt only reads mail. Try it with a mailbox you approved:
Using Fluxmail, find the most recent email thread about [replace with a subject you know exists]. Summarize what was asked, what was agreed, and what is still open. Include the sender and date so I can check it. Do not draft, send, or change anything.
Check the result
The summary should match the thread in your mail client, and the mailbox should stay unchanged. If no message matches, ChatGPT should say so rather than guess.
To change permissions or mailboxes later, connect again and approve the new access, then revoke the old connection under Connections in the Cloud dashboard.
Choose permissions for each connectionIf the connection does not work
- On chatgpt.com, check that Fluxmail appears when you type @ in a new conversation. If it does not, check that the plugin is installed at chatgpt.com/plugins. In the desktop app, type /mcp to check the server, and select Authenticate next to Fluxmail if it asks you to sign in.
- If Fluxmail connects but no mailbox appears, ask for the result of the
get_connection_statustool. It lists the connection's mailboxes and permissions, and whether your plan is active. - Each approval lasts up to 90 days. After that, or if sign-in fails, connect again.
Common questions
- Does ChatGPT already have Gmail access?
- ChatGPT's Gmail app can search Gmail, summarize threads, and prepare replies, and paid web users can send a draft from the chat. Fluxmail also works with Outlook and IMAP mailboxes, downloads attachments, and lets you choose the mailboxes and actions for each connection.
- Can ChatGPT send email through Fluxmail?
- Yes. Send emails is checked when you approve the connection. Uncheck it to stop ChatGPT from sending. For draft-only access, also uncheck Organize emails and Move to/from Trash. You can revoke the connection at any time from Connections in the Cloud dashboard.
- Does this work in the ChatGPT desktop app?
- Yes, with the Settings > MCP servers steps above. The desktop app shares its MCP servers with Codex, so a server added in one also appears in the other.
- What does Fluxmail Cloud cost?
- Pro is $15 a month or $120 a year for up to 10 mailboxes. Business is $25 per member a month or $240 per member a year, with up to 20 mailboxes per member. Your first subscription starts with a 7-day free trial.
