What is the difference between Fluxmail and Missive?

Fluxmail is a personal AI email client for Gmail: it triages your mail by priority, drafts in your voice, and gives you an AI agent that can archive, label, and search on command. Missive treats AI as a metered add-on. You first need the Productive plan ($30/month per user), then you either buy Missive AI credits, which carry a 25% markup over the model provider's pricing and stop working when the balance hits zero, or you connect your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google API key and pay the provider directly.

How is Fluxmail more private than Missive?

Missive stores your full email content on its servers (AWS, US East) because team collaboration requires a shared copy of every conversation. It is SOC 2 Type II certified and blocks read trackers by default, both points in its favor, but the mail itself lives in its cloud. Fluxmail never stores email bodies server-side: they are fetched from Gmail when you open a thread and cached on your device, and the metadata Fluxmail handles is encrypted at rest. Fluxmail also blocks trackers automatically and only uses AI providers with zero data retention.
